UK government needs to do something to enable young people to have a chance to buy a property. Maybe legislate to prevent anyone to own more than 5 residential properties, or total of 500- 1000 m2, exempting companies building residential properties until they sell all units. That might control the market a bit. And get rid of leaseholds, its a scam, sell the freehold or nothing!

In 1998, I knew a guy in London who had bought a studio in Nottinghill for 60,000 pounds, then he lost his good job and couldn't afford the mortgage so rented out his studio and slept rough!

"It’s a bargain, at just £75 per week. The catch? You sleep on the sofa." - that made my day, very funny!

If you look at the link (i work for Nestoria). You can find flats to rent in Camden that are £130 which is the cheapest and they happen to be studios, but its better than the Sofa!
