Carl in the Arctic

Carl Wilkinson is a freelance writer and editor. He spent three weeks in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina documenting the struggle of musicians trying to re-build their city, joined Jay-Z on tour to explore the rapper’s business prowess, reported on the growth in public libraries in Colombia and written travel features on ice driving in the Arctic Circle and mud-crabbing with the Bardi people of North West Australia. He has written for The Times, The Telegraph, The FT and GQ and has edited The Observer Books series – a collection of monthly paperback books covering subjects as diverse as Money, Film, Music and Space – and most recently the FT’s Business Education magazine.
